Installing Underfloor Heating with Vinyl Flooring
When installing Vinyl or LVT floor on top the Wunda Rapid Response® system, there are two methods that can be used. LVT and vinyl comes in a number of different forms, from rigid core to stick down. Always check with your flooring supplier and follow their recommendations.
There are two methods that we suggest when installing these types of floor finishes with our Rapid Response systems. This is necessary since LVT and vinyl finishes are often quite thin.
The first; is once the system has been pressure tested, lay a combination of our Wunda duo board and vapour barrier. Then the LVT and vinyl can be laid on top. This method is preferable for most as it saves time and hassle.
The second; is once the system has been pressure tested to prime the boards with an approved primer and then pour a thin layer of levelling compound (10mm) on top of the pipes and panel. Then install the floor finish on top of that. This option is likely necessary when installing floor heating wet rooms, bathrooms and ensuites.
While the levelling compound or primer is not provided by Wunda, it can be sourced from local merchants or online.
The approved compounds are:
- ‘Ultra ProLevel Ultimate’, when primed using ‘Ultra prime it multi surface primer’.
- ‘Mapei Ultraplan Renovation Screed’ when primed with ‘Mapei Eco Prim Grip’
The aluminium of all unused pipe channel’s must be cut to expose the empty channel, ready for filling with the approved levelling compound.
